No we do not include food in the divemaster gap year programme, the food in Thailand is so good value, 2 pounds for a full meal in a restaurant and there are a lot of nice restaurants. You miss out on a lot of fun and nice dates if we would include food and you have to eat at the same place every day.
Divemaster Gap Year spending money: What amount of money do I need per month? 20 pounds a day should be enough for a great gap year. But if you are not the drinking type and you like more quiet nights you could do it for 12 pounds. During the day you will only spend some money on food and water, and trust me, that is cheap!
Back up? Do you provide help on Koh Tao if I need it? There is a support network on Koh Tao, the rep will be there for you, give you an island orientation, take you out for dinner and introduce you to the others. The rep will be there for you whenever you need her. You dive every day and help your dive instructor daily. So you will have plenty of back up.
During your divemaster gap year, what facilities does the dive resort have? The resort is part of the dive school. There is a reception, bar, restaurant with Thai and Western food, a big pool with sun beds pool, friendly reception, spacious rooms, and internet. The resort is a 2 minute walk from the beach, the bars, the restaurants.
If I want to do the Divemaster programme for my gap year, do I need experience in Diving? You do not need experience. But you do need to be able to swim, not excellent, but you need to be able to swim around the dive boat. The Divemaster programme of Xtreme Gap gives you plenty of time, more than most programmes. But please do realize it is a big commitment so make sure you really want to do it. 80 % of people that book their Divemaster have no prior experience.
What are the rooms and facilities like the resort? The rooms are spacious and clean, and you will have a TV and your own balcony in a tropical garden. The resort is a part of the PADI dive school. At the resort you find a friendly reception, a cool bar, a restaurant with Thai and Western food, a big pool nice for cooling off, internet. And the resort is a shorts strol to the beach.
Do I need diving experience before starting the divemaster gap year programme? No experience is needed. You do not need to be afraid of water and you should be able to swim. The Koh Tao gap year divemaster programme is 12weeks and his will give you heeps of time to practice and study well.
