Slot Cars & Slot Car Racing

November 11th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

When someone talks about slot cars or slot car racing, there are a few people that just do not know what you are talking about. So this is to explain to those that are curious. The first slot cars were manufactured by Lionel (USA) in 1912 and were featured in their catalogue that year. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that the slot car tracks were guided by raised rails. 1957 brought about a Scalectrix slot car, which had metal bodies. The Ferrari 375 Grand Prix and the Maserati F250 were among the first cars manufactured, in 1:24 scale.

Slot cars are small model cars, fashioned after their full sized counterparts, even down to the color and decals. A slot car has a blade that extends from the bottom front of the car to the groove on the slot car track. With this swivel blade the car will begin to slide sideways if a curve is taken at too much speed. If the slot car track has a few hills that it has to travel across, the slot car will come off the track if the car is not slowed down in time to go over the hill.

Slot car track comes in two styles; one is the country/city scenic style and the more popular, competitive racing course. The scenic slot car track will consist of the track and travels from miniature cities through the country side viewing forests, mountains, stream, and small communities with post office, and train stations. The more popular course is that of the slot car racing track, which involves many types of twists, and turns, and is more for speed and durability.

The drivers hold their controller in their hands to manoeuvre through the slot car track, enduring all the obstacles and speeds that have to be used. The driver has to know when to speed their slot car up and when to slow it down in order to stay on the track. If the speed is not slowed in time the car will lose its grip from the slot and spin sideways resulting in a crash or it can even come off the track all together. In any event if this happens the driver is out of that particular race.

The slot cars come in a commercially available body with real working engines, which run on static electricity. However, some slot car owners prefer to build their own models created with their own hands using scalectrix slot car materials and parts. The electric motor is hidden beneath the body, and operators can install larger electric engines for the slot car track. The slots are not just restricted to the cars themselves. There are other scalectrix autos such as motor cycles, and trucks that use the same blade system as in scalectrix slot cars.

HO sized slot cars were originally made at 1:87 scales in the 1960’s but later in years they advanced to 1:64 scale so that larger electric motors could be installed to increase the speed of the slot car. Other common scales are 1:24, 1:32, 1:87, and 1:64.

Today the slot car track has even advanced enough that slot cars were made using traction magnets directly fixed to the chassis and a guide pin is used instead of the swivelling flag. This was to help hold the slot car down to the slot car track at faster speeds. However, there are many slot car racing drivers that state that magnet free racing adds more realism to the sport.

How to loose wrinkles

November 10th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

You’re compelled to look younger and are dedicated to using an wrinkle skin care product. After exploring different options, you’ve found one that you use religiously every day.

Being as dedicated to looking younger as you are, you work on the entire package by exercising, maintaining a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting a good night’s sleep. However, as far as the wrinkle cream goes, how can you be sure that you’re really getting the desired effects from the wrinkle cream?

One of the characteristics that you should look for is that you should not have any burning or tanning on your face. A good eye wrinkle cream will prevent these things from occurring. You may look great with a tan, but tanning increases the toughness in your skin and in the long run, you don’t look great, you just look older.

One reason people who don’t use an anti wrinkle cream don’t look as young is due to dry and peeling skin that may also cause additional wrinkles. You’re effective anti-aging product should contain a moisturizer to help keep your skin hydrated.

If the anti-aging cream is working properly and is a good one, then it will contain antioxidants and vitamins. This will help keep your face clear of any additional rashes or blemishes.

The shiny appearance of your face can make you look younger and appear to give you a natural glow. This effect will also help mask wrinkles by reducing shadowing on the face.  Therefore, your anti-aging cream should contain light-reflecting minerals.

One way to have a younger looking face is to get rid of some of the plumpness and puffiness in the face. A great product to use for this believe it or not is a hemorrhoid cream.  If you can’t bring yourself to put the hemorrhoid cream on your face, then you can look for creams whose ingredients are similar.

Again, a reminder that an effective anti-aging cream should contain a sunscreen.  If you miss that tanned look that made you so proud, you can get a self-tanner cream. This way you can still have the great look of a tan without the damaging effects of the sun.

Unless you prefer to walk down to the cleaners each couple of days then a washing machine is an required item of equipment for the house. Washing laundry in the sink was once the way most householders cleaned their garments, but when the washing machine became available, the time-consuming job was eliminated.

Another top make is AEG. The line of AEG washer models are spectacular in terms of technology and features, and are low-priced when likened with bigger names. The Lavamat L76669 is one of AEG’s best-selling lines and accomplishes ‘A’ ratings for both wash energy rating and spin drying energy. How to make money traveling

November 9th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

I am sure that everyone would love to travel all the time if they could. However, not everyone has the financial resources to do this. I like to travel as well, and have found out how to make money traveling without having to spend my own money. How do I manage that you might be asking yourself is a very interesting topic.

I did not really know how to find money to vacation on, but I did some internet research and found several programs that helped. One of the main things that I did was set up my own website for a review of my favorite vacation spot. This website draws some traffic, but not a ton of traffic. However, I wanted to get more exposure for my site and manage to make money for myself.

That is when I found out about writing about travel. Now you might not have any experience at all with writing, but that is perfectly fine because you can learn how to do write here. Now, you might be asking how can you manage to find out what to write about for a travel journal or article that would make people want to purchase your item. Well, that is another hard task. I decided to write a review about some of my vacations that I have taken.  Now like I said before my website that I published did not really get that big of a traffic pull. However, I found a program that allowed me to learn how to make money traveling. Hopefully everyone can benefit from these programs and learn how to write and then be able to make money off of the writing education they can obtain.

What You Should Know About Coffee Pod?

November 8th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

For coffee lover, the biggest job is producing thefirst cup of coffee of the day. Look at what one must do: measure the water, prepare the filters, open one up and put it into the basket, open up the coffee jar, measure the right amount that corresponds with the amount of water you put in, mop up the coffee grounds you spilled on the counter, start the machine, then around for several minutes waiting for it to brew. And the poor coffee lover is expected to achieve all these jobs before they have any caffeine circulating through their system.

It is no wonder coffee lovers have been raving about the new technology coffee maker that have solved so many of the above troubles. It’s known as coffee pod tehnology.

What is a coffee pod technology?

A coffee pod, basically, is freshly roasted coffee that is tampered to the perfect temperature and then wrapped in paper. In non-English speaking countries like Germany and The Netherlands the word pad is applied rather than pod. Simply put, a coffee pod is much like a tea bag, except, of course, it is filled with a measured amount of coffee grounds, not tea leaves. Less than a minute after the start button has been pushed, a cup of perfectly-brewed coffee is ready to drink.

Each dose is exactly the same and the wrapping ensures freshness. There are two main types of coffee pod; the ESE compatible tea bag style sealed in foil and the plastic pod that looks similar to a small UHT milk portion. Every time you use a pod you create a significant amount of non-recyclable waste, both in the pod and the wrapping.

Using pods in your machine pretty much guarantees a excellent cup of coffee every time as the coffee has been precisely calculated and ground to match the coffee pod. It also assists avoid the mess of scooping the coffee to put into the filter area. By compartmentalizing the coffee like this, you may relieve tons of place and a lot of hassle in terms of making the perfect cup of coffee out of your favourite grounds and your coffee maker.

Where to buy your coffee pod ?

There are a few web sites that now feature their private blends of coffee available in pod form for purchase, creating a convenience that provides you experience certain types of coffee in a pre-measured sense. Purchasing a pod off the internet is a great way to get started with a miniature coffee collection based on pods.

You can also buy the coffee pod in a variety of quantities, including packs of 44 and 55 from one specific site. Buying such a pack of pod enables you to serve coffee quickly in an almost “instant” sense while experiencing the great flavour involved. The coffee comes in great flavours like vanilla and amaretto and is available around the world in pod form. You have a lot of choice to choose coffee brand for your coffee pod such as Maxwell House Coffee, millstone coffee, folger coffee, etc

Lower interest rates for construction loans and mortgages are coming.

November 8th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

The US government today took a major step toward increasing investors confidence in the US mortgage market by utilizing the power Congress provided the Treasury Department and the new government sponsored enterprise oversight agency known as the Federal Housing Finance Agency FHFA.

Some observers believe that this move may cause interest rates to go down. Because buyers of government sponsored enterprise investments have demanded higher than normal returns on their investments due to a lack of confidence in these entities, which as been pronounced by speculation that the GSEs may collapse. Others feared nationalization of the government sponsored enterprises, which presents a different sent of implications. What happened today stops short of nationalizing the government sponsored enterprises, but it does dilute shareholder equity in the GSEs.

The speculation as to what will happen with the government sponsored enterprises and it’s concern of their potential collapse, consolidation, nationalization, etc. The certainty of the situation is thought to be a very good thing. Investors will likely be willing to invest in mortgage backed securities under the new scenario meaning with the explicit guaranty of, rather than the implicit guaranty of, the credit of the US government at rates similar to the past. This could be great news for Mortgage rates, construction loan rates, new home construction and refinancing.

Recently investors have demanded spreads of 2.25% to 2.45% over treasuries, whereas the normal spread historically has been 1.25%. That means agency interest rates may have been inflated recently by as much as 1.2%. Well have to see if this move causes the reaction of international investors feeling comfortable enough with this move to accept a 1.25% spread over treasuries like they used to. Logically they should, so long as these investors believe in the underlying credit worthiness of the US government.

If we do see a rate decrease of 100 to 120 basis points we should see a surge in business. We will not expect to see the GSEs back off of the recent underwriting guideline tightening; in fact, we expect to see underwriting guidelines continue to tighten in reaction to a recent revelation that the foreclosure crisis is now spreading further into high quality credit borrowers. So, no relief expected soon on underwriting guidelines, but potential significant relief in terms of interest rates.

How To Get A Payday Cash Advance

November 8th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

Any model citizen would agree with this: financial planning can be a bummer!  With all the bills you have to pay every single month of every single year, it’s quite difficult to reserve some cash for our favored expenses.  Often, we don’t even know where our paychecks go, as they seem to disappear as soon as we receive them.

Though a good budget plan would help us save for a rainy day, it would still be hard to answer for unexpected necessities that might suddenly pop up out of the blue.  For these situations, loans become essential.  If we don’t have the money at hand to answer for some demands, we have no other recourse but to borrow some cash.

One of the more popular types of credit is what people call online payday loans.  These are loans that help us get through the period between our paydays.  As such, they have a shorter maturity period and a limit commensurate to how much we earn.

If you find yourself needing a payday cash advance, here are things you must consider:

* You must have an established regular income.  This presupposes the act that you should be gainfully employed in good standing.  Online payday loans depend on how much you make, after all, and the lender would need the assurance that you really have work and that you really are paid at certain stated periods.  The average salary requirement in most cases is between $800 to $1,200.

* You must have an valid checking account.  This account should have been in existence for at least 4 months.

* You must be of legal age.  People below the age of 18, which is the emancipation age in every State, will not be allowed to secure a payday loan even if they are gainfully employed.  The reason?  They’re too young to officially enter a contract.

* The amount you can borrow depends on what is prescribed by State laws.  Different States have different ceilings for payday cash advances.  Some are pegged at $500, while others go for as high as $1,000.  Know the amount that your State allows before factoring in payday loans into your budget.

Because payday loans online are often quick solutions to desparate problems, and because their maturity period is quite short (one to two weeks), online payday loans are immediately granted once the application is approved.  If you apply for a payday loan any day between Monday and Thursday, you are sure to get it within the next day.

Payday loans online usually charge $15 to $30 for every $100 of borrowings.  This is quite a steep interest rate, but considering the expediency by which it is awarded and the risk the creditor has taken, it is required to recoup his investment and to make a profit.

There are three things you should keep in mind when applying for a payday loan:

1. Always canvas for the payday cash advance with a lower interest rate.  Since the maturity period shall accrue by the next payday, you must take the applicable interest rate into serious consideration.

2. Make sure that you select a payday lender that would not violate your right to privacy.  They should be trustworthy enough as not to disclose the personal information you would share to outside parties.

3. Always read the fine print of the contract.  This is very basic.  Never sign anything unless you read them in their entirety.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions about matters that you don’t quite understand.  Make sure that all the provisions of the contract are fully understood.

Payday loans online are excellent ways to keep your head above water during trying times.  But as with the aforementioned analogy, you should know how to swim before resorting to this rescue.  Otherwise, you might just end up in deeper depths than before.

Birding Guides For Birders

November 7th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

Birders can be serious about their hobby. With field guides in their hands, birders hike into natural habitats to observe wildlife, especially birds. How cool is that?

Walking in the wilds is never boring for a birder. What the birder needs is a birding guide, binoculars and the hope of birds nearby.

Birding guides have as much value to birders as home business reviews do to home business operators. The bird guides have information about birds and trails to follow and tips to identify birds. Likewise, home business reviews explain the pros and cons of
specific paths on the business route and which tools to use or avoid.

A birding guide is to some extent like an online marketing guide. This is because everyone knows what the internet is, and everyone knows what birds are, but not everyone can enjoy them as much as they could without some sort of guidance.

Bird books really help birdwatchers appreciate their hobby and help identify birds. Internet guidebooks or training courses help the online businessperson too. If you find a good guidebook to help you with your work or your sport, keep it and use it well. Birding guides are like home business reviews for birds and birding trips, but birding guides are more closely related to online marketing guides as well.

How to Budget your Finances

November 7th, 2008 Filed under: General by admin Print This Post Print This Post

Introduction
Learning to budget your finances is one of those things where some people have no problem, yet others cannot do it for the life of them. Those of us who find budgeting easy and satisfying don’t really understand those people who can never manage their money properly.

1. Mr Macawber in David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, purports the concept of budgeting. “Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pound nought and six, result misery.” Charles Dickens, David Copperfield, 1849 English novelist (1812 - 1870)

overspend and you will always be in debt, as I found to my cost when first setting up my web development business, specialising in cms, But spend a penny less than you get and you will always feel rich which we have now achieved. This may seem very evident, but how often do we find we are spending more than we can afford? There are tempting offers within our grasp every day and it’s difficult to resist when they try to make us believe we might never get such an opportunity again.
• Hands up if you are someone who has difficulty managing your money?
• Hands up if you do not know how to control your finances?
• Hands up if you find it difficult to resist tempting offers?
• Hands up if you are in arrears?
• Hands up if you don’t know how you are going to make ends meet for the year to come?

If you have all your hands in the air (and your feet!) it’s time to do something about it. (In other words take yourself in hand!!) Sorry about the pun.

2. The first thing you need to understand is that people who are trading are in business to make money and they want their businesses to grow. To do this they have to increase sales, so they have to make things irresistible to the customers like you and me.

So remember, the next time you are owing money and struggling to pay the bills, there is some big guy out there raking in the profits. They are taking your hard earned cash and leaving you poor.

Change of Mindset
People who do not budget and find it difficult to manage their money seem to have a particular mindset. For instance, there may be an idea from childhood that being careful with money indicates to the world that a person is miserly. Being reckless then equates with generosity and open handedness. If you are loaded then spending money freely is not a problem, but if you are on a limited income or just never seem to have enough, then good financial management looks like a good idea.

3. One of the ways to change your thinking is to ask yourself, ‘who is the best person to benefit from your hard earned money’? Is it the big companies who are making loads of profit already(Fat cats) paying their executives million pound bonuses, or you!

Anxiety about your ability to manage your money and fear of figures may cause you to ignore. I had a friend who admitted this to me and when I said I enjoyed the online banking system and being in charge of moving my money around and how easy I found it; she immediately changed her mind set and decided she could handle the online banking system and researched the best way to invest her money to make more of what she had.

Give yourself permission to think that being in control of your money is a practical way to remove the stress you experience around finance. That will give you more energy to enjoy life more and make even more money.

Guidelines to Liquidity
The most difficult thing to do is to face the truth. When someone is on a spending spree they are out of control and out of touch with reality. The fantasy ignores the cost and the consequences of overspending (ie. How it’s going to get repaid).

So the first thing you need to do is keep an account of everything you spend your money on. At this stage do not try to change what you normally do. Have a cash note book and write down all the things you can think of that you buy. This includes household bills and food, mobile phone, TV. Put a figure in the corresponding column. If you have actual amounts put them in, if not make a stab at it. Leave space for the things you don’t remember or even consider expenses. Beer, cinema, clothes even the coins you toss to street entertainers. Categorise it as fun money or entertainment funds.

Every time you take money out of your pocket/wallet/credit card/bank, write down what you use it for. Do this over one month, and by then you will have a fairly comprehensive list of your expenses. Make a total at the bottom of the page and on the opposite page write down all your income. When I first did this I found that one of my largest expenses was shop bought sandwiches every day!

Compare the totals. Have you spent more or less than you receive? Is your life going towards happy or miserable? It is at this point you really need to make a shift in your thinking.

Start by being penny pinching to people who want to sell you things. Look around for the best deals and always ask for a discount. I went on a negotiating course some years ago and the following week I put into practise what we had learnt. I reduced my spending by $350, just by asking!

Carry only a minimum amount of cash on you so that you are not tempted to fritter away $20 on some impulse purchase you don’t need. Those dollars add up fast and before you know a hundred dollars in your pocket is gone.

Cut up your credit card unless this is the most convenient way to pay regular items and you clear the balance at the end of each month. Use only one credit card, and find one that gives points for purchases. These mount up and you can claim vouchers to spend in your favourite stores. Also find a credit card that will take the full amount by direct debit every month so you don’t miss payments, accrue interest charges and generate a large fine.

Make a list when you go shopping and only buy what is on that list. OK, some things you may have forgotten to put down but make sure you avoid the impulse purchases. Keep a list in the kitchen and only put things on it when you have run out. Use up products in the cool cupboard and freezer to reduce waste and keep spending to a minimum.

Become a prudent shopper and consumer. Try and use up coupons, saving a few saved cents per purchase can really add up. Searching through clearance sections in stores is another way to save money. You may be pleasantly surprised to see how much you can reduce your bill on your usual grocery haul.

Conclusion
Budgeting is not for the fainthearted. It means fighting the urge to buy what is not needed. I run a web design company and if you are like me the temptation is strong to buy all the latest gadgets. But if you can think yourself into a new mind set you will find it much easier to change the habits of a lifetime. Be sure that all expenses are accounted for when you take stock of your situation. Once you have your finances under control, there will be enough surplus to save and allow to grow for the special events you may want to treat yourself to in life.

If you still have difficulty curbing your shopping habit, take a friend or relative with you on outings. Someone you can trust to steer you away from temptation. Once you conquer your shopping demons, you will be proud of yourself for doing so and feel a great sense of accomplishment. So don’t be overwhelmed, grab that pen and paper and get on track to prosperity.

Happy Budgeting
